Pink Visual Unveils New Feed, App for Boxee.tv

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Adult studio Pink Visual has unveiled the first adult app for the free entertainment software package Boxee.tv.

Boxee is an application that can convert computers, Apple TVs and other hardware into a full social media center. Once installed, users see a TV-style interface that allows delivery of all kinds of content to their system, including videos from YouTube, Hulu, Comedy Central, CNN.com, ABC.com, music from Last.fm or photos from Flickr.

Users also can bring regularly updated content to their Boxee-enabled systems with RSS feeds, and that's where Pink Visual comes in. Consumers can download the full Pink Visual app at PinkVisual.com (direct download link) or by simply streaming the Pink Visual RSS feed.

In a move that echoes the business model of mainstream video site Hulu.com, Pink Visual's feed will offer free adult videos along with advertisements. Pink Visual Brand and Product Manager Kim Kysar said that the company was impressed with what Boxee had to offer.

“One of our employees was an alpha tester for Boxee, so we’ve been watching it develop and preparing our app and feeds for some time now," she said. "We only made the app available recently, and the results have already been impressive. We’re looking forward to making Pink Visual fans out of more Boxee users in the months ahead.”

Kysar added that Pink Visual built the Boxee feed in response to the changing tides in the adult entertainment and content-delivery industries.

“As online delivery mediums evolve, we’re seeing people adopt more traditional, broadcast- style advertising techniques into this very non-traditional environment,” Kysar said. “The practice of giving out free adult content does not appear to be going away any time soon, so it is crucial to expose your brand to the free content audience effectively.”

Kysar also maintained that despite the huge amount of free porn online, there are still plenty of ways to make money in the industry.

“The audiences for free porn are just like anything else in this business,” Kysar said. “It’s a numbers game. You expose your product to hundreds of thousands with the idea being that you sell to hundreds. One thing is for sure, people aren’t going to buy the products they never see — so you don’t do yourself any favors by ignoring these new avenues for content distribution.”
